Yield To God

Challenged By Cultural Chaos?

I am sure, without a doubt that there are many of us who feel very challenged right now. Our national cultures are all in a state of flux and things we have known our whole lives as being wrong are lifted up as being right, there is only justice for those who lean into the political flavor of the day and have no opinion on how it tastes, just how they are told: You like this… then they say: I like this. Our society of human beings trying to cancel God, His ways, truth and life is exploding, because without Him, the ugly truth is, we are not good, the political flavor of the day doesn’t taste good, yet every news channel you turn, you hear the same prescript political mindless false narrative. “This isn’t bad, it is good, this isn’t good, its bad”! Anyone who doesn’t follow the script, you are cancelled this makes for a life-less society of brainless people who do as they are told, who listen to “a story” and not “the” story and believe the deception being spoon fed them without even searching for what is true.

Beautiful Agony

This kind of cancel God culture, this is exactly why Jesus was killed for something he did not do, because the cancel Jesus crowd was swayed by an angry mob yelling “Crucify Him”! Why? What has He done wrong? Oh, He has done whatever “they” said He did. People thinking that “they know what they know” but truly know nothing yelling “Crucify Him” riding on the coattails of an angry mob. Jesus, God Incarnate, could have escaped all of this, but He was on mission, serving us, saving us, that He yielded to the plan of God, and in all meekness (power under control) He was beaten and crucified for absolutely no good reason. It was evil using people that put Him on that cross, people who had yielded to their humanity and not to God. The death of Jesus on the cross was a beautiful agony because He knew the endgame was eternal life for all.

Without God We Are Evil

Human beings are capable of evil beyond measure, even to the point of plotting to kill an innocent man, beating him to a pulp, and not only crucifying Him with ropes, but going to the extreme of  nailing his feet and hands to the cross, a cross He did nothing to deserve to be on. Human being, we are capable of horrific things apart from God and influenced by the evil of satan who wants to kill, steal and destroy us, we put to death the One GOD, Who wanted to love us, and save us for all eternity, but God returned a boomerang of life back at us from the death we served up to His Son. This is mercy. We did not deserve it, yet Jesus finished well for us, suffered for our sin debt and paid it with His life. Suffering is a part of life here, but because of Jesus, we do not suffer alone and we have a future without suffering, a forever hope!

Yielded Is Our Best Look

We human beings are at our best when we have yielded our life to God, when we are not yielded, we are deplorable, our human condition fails forward and we can see in our history as a human race that our corruption is absolutely horrendous. From generation to generation without we can see huge human messes throughout the Old Testament, then we see God rescue us and the redemption theme just stands right out in the Old Testament, all the way though to the New Testament.  When we as a human race yield to God and lean into His Sovereign Sway we are better people, it is not about us, it is all about Him, His mission here and it is our best look as human beings.

Every year at the time of Passover the governor would free one person from prison. This was always a person the people wanted to be set free. At that time there was a man in prison who was known to be very bad. His name was Barabbas. All the people gathered at Pilate’s house. Pilate said, “Which man do you want me to free: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Christ?” Pilate said these things while he was sitting on the judge’s seat. While he was sitting there, his wife sent a message to him. The message said, “Don’t do anything to that man. He is not guilty. Today I had a dream about him, and it troubled me very much.” But the leading priests and elders told the crowd to ask for Barabbas to be freed and for Jesus to be killed. Pilate said, “I have Barabbas and Jesus. Which do you want me to set free for you?” The people answered, “Barabbas!” Pilate asked, “What should I do with Jesus, the one called the Christ?” They all answered, “Kill him on a cross!” Pilate asked, “Why do you want me to kill him? What wrong has he done?” But they shouted louder, “Kill him on a cross!” Pilate saw that he could do nothing about this, and a riot was starting. So he took some water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. Then he said, “I am not guilty of this man’s death. You are the ones who are causing it! Matthew 27:15-17,19-24

We Can Grow Through Suffering

A corrupted culture, this is us, not yielded to God. We can see it in our time, the perversion of humanity apart from God. This kind of living, lighting our own fire and walking by the light of a man made fire only leads us to torment and suffering. It is time to follow the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and say: Not my will but Yours be done, yielding to God. Trusting God, believing His way is the best way. We sit in the ashes left after the fire has burned out and gone cold, and the darkness prevails, everyone is suffering, the change in our culture is unbearable by ourselves and we feel hopeless. There is the truth of God, that no man can put out, it still shines in the dark as a candle in the wind, the enemy can’t put it out.  We move toward the light to Jesus, His way, truth and life and our suffering becomes bearable in Christ Jesus and we can grow through anything our enemy dishes out.

Who out there fears God , actually listens to the voice of his servant? For anyone out there who doesn’t know where you’re going, anyone groping in the dark, Here’s what: Trust in God . Lean on your God! But if all you’re after is making trouble, playing with fire, Go ahead and see where it gets you. Set your fires, stir people up, blow on the flames, But don’t expect me to just stand there and watch. I’ll hold your feet to those flames. Isaiah 50:10-11

Are you suffering in the dark, move to the light, let go and let God. Hope in the dark as you yield to God, the very Savior, Who yielded to the torture of depraved human beings, endured suffering for a greater purpose, a mission of Salvation, Who finished what He started, because He yielded His Will to God. The Word of God will endure forever, the word of men will fizzle out,  and dreams die with them that know no power higher than self. We have eternal life in Jesus Christ because He chose to yield and went to the cross for us. There is not a greater show of power or love ever demonstrated on this earth, than what Jesus did on that Good Friday over 2000 years ago.
