The Overflow Of God
To have the attractive anointing of God, I need to have the overflow of God’s abundance in holiness and character, these two in harmony with each other help develop the Image of God in me. I was created in the Image of God, and I need to stretch past my human condition to be found in God’s Character. I need to stretch past my human nature to God’s nature, bearing the fruit of God’s life in and through my life. The Fruit of God’s Holy Spirit, is a very attractive anointing, which most people who experience it, want it. When you walk in kindness, wisdom and compassion, people want to be like you, and they want to be a part of the receiving end of your life, because they see Jesus and experience His nature through you. I need to stretch my human condition to be more like God, to be found more in His image and character and less in my human condition.
Romans 15:13 I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. TPT
Attractive Anointing
This is attractive living, a life that is attracting others to Jesus, doesn’t come from human will power, the pushing ourselves to be the best, so we can be noticed by someone. People pleasing and pursuing accolades, and titles, no, attractive living, it is not exactly that. Yes and “attractive” isn’t something we can “muster up”! We can’t (Isaiah 50:10-11) kindle our own fires and walk by the light of a man-made fire, it will flame out. “Attractive Anointing” I find for me, is not possible without the “overflow” of God in me. It comes from my vital-vertical relationship with Him, that precious heart to heart time with God as He fills me to overflowing with HIs abundant love, wisdom, talent and character.
Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 1:14 NLT
Learning-Growing-Becoming
Yes, with God, out of that overflow of His Holy Spirit in me and through me, comes my “Attractive Anointing” where I learn and grow with God, I change it up to be like Him. When I have an “attractive anointing” it is because I am staying attached to the Vine, so I bear fruit like forbearing with others, living excellently with, kindness, respect, humility, selflessness, and being the one who makes peace, going the second mile, self-controlled, and disciplined. All these fruits of the Spirit of God, which He has purposefully in play in my life, I can’t muster up. The overflow anointing in my life is all about Christ in me, the hope of glory, the “Attractive Anointing” that people just can’t look away from, that people want to have, that people want to emulate, and it is all God. Being attractive, it is all about being in constant communication with God, living in the overflow anointing of His life in me and through me. There is never a day that we are not taught by God’s Holy Spirit, we are always becoming, becoming like Jesus, being shaped in His Image.
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:4-7 NLT
Amazing People
Have you ever said this to someone: “Oh, that person is so nice, so amazing, so giving, so kind, so sweet, or so smart”? We see things in other people’s lives that go way beyond natural ability. We think: I want to be like that. We are seeing God’s overflow, God’s attracting anointing on their life. I have recognized the God anointing in other people and been attracted to it. You want what they have, but you don’t realize it is Jesus, He is what they have that is so attracting to others. God shapes our lives in such a way, that in times such as these, that the fruit of His Spirit is so sparse, that people flock to those who have it, wanting what they have. I know a lot of amazing people, so in love with Jesus, in a heart-to-heart constant conversation and consistent relationship, who are so attractive in the anoint of God, that many flock to them, and they are able to point them to Jesus, the real reason why they are anointed to shine.
Learning Forbearance
In times such as these, where there is so much devouring of each other, we see very little of forbearance with one another. It is scarce, the making of peace, we don’t see people selflessly making peace, people loving unconditionally, and we see very little self-control, kindness, compassion, civility and common sense. These fruits of God’s Holy Spirit are lacking, we are found wanting in times such as these. To be like Jesus, it begins with us and Him. The only way we can learn forbearance is to be submitted to God, to be like responsive clay in The Potter’s Hand, being shaped by His touch, responsive to His touch, and it is here, in this submissive position where we will be designed by God’s Holy Spirit, to be vessels of attractive anointing.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:19 NLT
Vital-Vertical Relationship
As we spend time quality relationship time with Jesus, His love overflows out of our life. When people recognize this attractive anointing, we then have a great opportunity of pointing them to Jesus, to that relational, heart to heart love relationship with their God, and watch as their life begins to transform in that way only God can. In a personal relationship with God, He fills them with Himself, with a contagious love like no other, and they begin to develop their vital-vertical relationship with God, making it personal with God, connecting with God in reverence, worship, sharing, friendship, in heart-to-heart time with God, that begins to take over their life, God overflowing His love out of them, in an attractive anointing. It is a contagious love, this love of our Awe God, that has the fruit of an attractive anointing. Be so. Be in a vital-vertical relationship with Jesus and overflow His love.
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9
Constant-Consistent Relationship
Constant-Consistent, no matter what is happening in my life, God relationship, this is what I need to be changed up by God, so I can reach others with an attractive God anointing, the overflow of my relationship with God, spilling out His love on their life. Them, wanting to be like me, wanting the joy and peace I have, comes out of them seeing the genuine life I live in relationship with my God. I live out loud with God, there is no part of my life, God is not welcome in. To have that attractive anointing, I have to make sure that I do not put-up compartments in my life that keep God out. I give God total access to my life, I look to Him and in followship of Him, my life is a great God Adventure. Life in Christ is exciting and I never know what He will bring into my life next, but I know it will be incredible, I know I will grow and learn and I know I will be cared for provisionally and loved best.
Lord, how wonderful you are! You have stored up so many good things for us, like a treasure chest heaped up and spilling over with blessings— all for those who honor and worship you! Everybody knows what you can do for those who turn and hide themselves in you. 20 So hide all your beloved ones in the sheltered, secret place before your face. Overshadow them by your glory-presence. Keep them from these accusations, the brutal insults of evil men. Tuck them safely away in the tabernacle where you dwell. 21 The name of the Lord is blessed and lifted high! For his marvelous miracle of mercy protected me when I was overwhelmed by my enemies. Psalm 31: 19-21 The Passion Translation
Wholly-Holy Followship
I live wholly-holy with an undivided heart before God, giving God total access to my life. This takes a stretching of what I want at times, to what He wants for me. He loves me fully, so He knows what I need. Sometimes I smile as He brings me into situations that I call “way above my paygrade”. I say to Him: “Lord, I can’t do this! Many times I have said: “You have got to be kidding me, You want me to do what?” God says back to me: “Trust Me, you can, in Me, with my anointing, you can do anything I ask.” So those are the times I find myself in where I have to stretch past what I think I know, obey God, connect heart to heart with Him and step out in blind obedience, willessly move in God’s Sovereign Sway. Sometimes the way of God is so different from the way I want to go, that my emotions swamp me with negative feelings and I feel like I am trudging through, with enemies of disappointment, disillusionment, discouragement riding on my back, weighing me down. But God, He is always with me, He walks beside me like a life coach with a bull horn, He encourages and reminds me that He is enough, that He is my strength, that He is my deliverer and He proves that He is all those things as I courageously shake off the enemy and move forward in followship of Him.
Psalm 36: 5-9 Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. 7 How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. 8 You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights.9 For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see. Stretch 2021
God is stretching me this year to be best, there is no way I can stretch past my human condition without Him. I need His help to be self-controlled, disciplined, discerning enough to grow through past my ability to His. I find God uses His Word to stretch me past what I think I can be and do, to what He knows and has planned for me. I can do all things through Christ who stretches me past my current ability to the new things He has for me. This is going to be the “stretch” year for me, I will grow through to the new things God has for me.
Ephesians 1:7 (MSG) Because of the sacrifice of the Messiah, his blood poured out on the altar of the Cross, we’re a free people—free of penalties and punishments chalked up by all our misdeeds. And not just barely free, either. Abundantly free! He thought of everything, provided for everything we could possibly need, letting us in on the plans he took such delight in making. He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.
