Awe

“What if we got back to silence as individuals and we knew how to wake up in Awe. Silently stare at God, recognize the enormous gap between God and us. We could realize it is not about me, it is not about what I want, it is about everything You want. God sent His Son do die for our sin and His death was supposed to bring us together, this is what God wanted. What if we huddled together in groups all over to just marvel at Him, just to pray our Father in Heaven hallowed be Your name, we want Your Kingdom to come, we want Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. Our only hope right now is we beg God together and we say, we want it to be like it is in heaven, united around Your Throne. We want that right now, right here, on earth as it is in heaven.” Francis Chan

Awe GOD ~ He Is Our Enough

Awe. How does the awe of God play out in your life? For me, I stay in Awe of God as I stay undistracted by this world. Distraction is not a good thing for us if we want to develop our Awe of God because life distractions tend to make us self-focused. Awe runs alongside of gratefulness, appreciation and a thankful heart, because all these things cause us to focus up to God, the One Who created and maintains everything we need. God is our enough. Awe-God.

Now this phrase “once and for all” clearly indicates the final removal of things that are shaking, that is, the old order, so only what is unshakable will remain. Since we are receiving our rights to an unshakable kingdom we should be extremely thankful and offer God the purest worship that delights his heart as we lay down our lives in absolute surrender, filled with awe. “We have received grace to serve and we please God in awe and tender devotion” (submission). For our God is a holy, devouring fire! Hebrews 12:27-29

Lord Almighty, you are the one who created all the nations. Look at them—they’re all on their way! Yes, the day will come when they all will worship You and put Your glory on display. You are the one and only God. What miracles! What wonders! What greatness belongs to You. Teach me more about You, how You work and how You move, so that I can walk onward in your truth until everything within me brings honor to Your name. With all my heart and passion I will thank You, my God! I will give glory to Your name, always and forever! Psalm 86:9-12

Develop Your Awe

To develop our Awe of God, reverence is a necessary spiritual characteristic. Bowing our lives before God, humbly surrendering all things us to Him is a fantastic way to start each day. Our first step out into our day should be down, bowed before God in reverence, respect and honor. This is how Awe for God begins to be deeply developed in our soul. Awe increases our faith in God, as He becomes the center of our focus. Awe presses us forward in our relationship with Him, creating a personal friendship founded upon respect. Respect always goes both ways. God respected us in such a way it led to a grand gesture of sacrificial love. Our Awe for God, will lead to a healthy respect for God that will bring us to a willessness, a beautiful surrender of all things us, and lean us into a heart which will become wholly-holy His. Awe of God, is a beautiful thing to develop, it truly changes things up for us, creating in us an undivided heart. Less of us and more of Him. Develop your Awe of God.
