Pharisees: Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. Moses says in the law that we are to kill such women by stoning. What do You say about it? This was all set up as a test for Jesus; His answers would give them grounds to accuse Him of crimes against Moses’ law. Jesus bent over and wrote something in the dirt with His finger. They persisted in badgering Jesus, so He stood up straight. Jesus: Let the first stone be thrown by the one among you who has not sinned. John 8:4-7 The Voice
I Am Deplorable!
I am musing about the word deplorable. I am thinking we all really needed to be reminded that we are deplorable. We have a human nature that needs to be self-controlled and we just can’t do it in our own will-power, it is not enough, we need God’s power alive in us. We need to live life spiritually alive in Christ Jesus. Wishy-washy people we are, because of the times when we are clinging to God, we are strong in Him and then the other times that we fail, when we are trying through our own strength to do what is right. We are not stable in all our ways until we stay in a vital-vertical relationship with God and create Godly spiritual habits that are supported by our life connection with Jesus. We are all deplorable in the sense of the word, we all need to “flesh out” and “God-truth in”. This is basically the reason why I am no longer a stone thrower.
Erasing Deception, Not!
I am sure that all of us at one time or another tried very hard to secret something, and we may yet have many secreted things; but I am also sure that God will bring them all out to the light sooner or later as His purpose meets the timing of our greatest good. It is kind of a paradox when someone deletes their hidden secrets and then exposes someone else’s secrets mistakes. Isn’t this just like the deplorable human nature! The only problem with erasing deception is that with God, this is not always a final bleach out. God has that miraculous way of His where He can always “unearth” any secreted thing and it is always at the perfect time for our best growth. Though, when God brings deception to His Light and repentance takes place, then and only then His Mercy erases our sin and replaces the darkness with the light of His Hope. We can’t hide the darkness of our sin without it intersecting with the mercy of God, God knows all things, He is Omnipresent and the Light of His Mercy has the farthest reach of all and unearths every hidden sin.
Praise the name of God forever and ever, for all wisdom and power belong to Him. He sets in motion the times and the ages; He deposes kings and installs others; He gives wisdom to the wise and grants knowledge to those with understanding. He reveals deep truths and hidden secrets; He knows what lies veiled in the darkness; pure light radiates from within Him. Daniel 2:20-28 The Voice
There Is A God Who Reveals Secrets!
God has the final say, God is the Master unearther of secreted things. Pointing a finger at someone else when you are just as bad, that is a really deplorable, deplorability factor. Calling someone deplorable is the same as being deplorable. Why? Because we all are, ALL of us, including those who are branding people deplorable, if they are human, they have that same deplorable nature. The Lord will one day unearth all of our secreted things and His Justice will prevail. We are all deplorably human in this fleshly condition that we wear. The common denominator of our deplorable state is that we all need Jesus, because in Christ, through His power and strength, our deplorable nature is transformed. Because of Jesus’ righteousness we can be and will be holy, pure, God powered and truth equipped, to be able to make good choices, in that God right kind of way. Besides, the truth is, we will ALL one day bow down at the feet of Jesus Christ, Who already knows our secrets and Who will hold us accountable for them.
Only God Changes People
I too, am deplorable. I have done and said some pretty deplorable things in my life time. I too, am a sinner who falls short of the glory of God. I too, am not the same person I was years ago and that is why I accept the apology of those who do deplorable things and do not hold a judgement grudge against them. Why? Because God has forgiven me in that incredible way of His, where He doesn’t ever throw up my past and use it against me. The heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is change. I have changed in a good way because of God’s truth teaching me and my choice to live out of His power, leaning into His Sovereign sway. I know people change too under the influence of an Omnipresent God. I believe God sometimes uses deplorable people as a unique voice of His truth. He sets them up on a platform where they unearth deception, rationalizations, assumptions, presumptions and bring them out from their darkly secreted place to the Light of God’s Truth. God uses imperfect people, I know, because I am one of them and I have submitted myself to Jesus, to be found in Him, to be transformed by Him.
A Godly Leadership Void
In the United States, in a time such as this, God is shaking up our political arena with the truth of unearthed secreted things. It definitely has not been the “politics as usual” arena, which has become a most deplorable thing. The corruption in our political process has hurt all of us. How far has the political arena fallen? Has it fallen to a place where it is close to being categorized as politicians who know no power higher then self? Human power has been lifted up and God’s power is no longer welcome or tapped into. So, us human beings, are of course failing at leading without the power of God active over our human condition. We have a godly leadership void in this country, we have a civility void in this country and it is as simply-significantly the failure of human power. Without God’s power, we can’t succeed and God is presently showing us the difference between using God’s power responsibly or abusing human power in that dysfunctional way human authority always fails forward with. We don’t have the ability for servant leadership without the power of God in us.
I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings. Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:23-27 New Living Translation
God’s Purposes Are In Play
I have to admit, what a carefully devised plan our opponent has. It was hard, hurtful and very disappointing to hear a lot of these secreted things that are coming to the light of truth. But our reaction of pointing self-righteous fingers and speaking bitter judgement, was exactly the purpose of God. Odd you may say. No. God is purposefully revealing our hearts. Self-righteousness is so very ugly. When something so politically motivated, with evil designs is exposed about another person, you know that the enemy has the reigns on that; but we also know God will flip-flop it for the good of our Christian growth, because His purposes are always in play for our good and the glory of His Kingdom. There is no doubt about this. The Providential care of God is at work in our lives for our good and for the glory of His Kingdom, this is a never ending process and the enemy of our souls will never be able to extinguish the light that God’s purpose brings into play during the dark times of our soul.
Mediatic Feeding Frenzy
How interesting though, that the very thing people are accusing others of, they are doing too; isn’t that the typical enemy strategy? Take down two with one blow. Strife is stirred up so high when we are doing the very things, we are pointing a finger at someone else for, it becomes a double for your trouble mediatic feeding frenzy. For myself, I am learning not to throw stones, because I too should be stoned and if it were not for Jesus Christ, there would not be any good in me. I am a sinner saved by the Grace of God and because of that, I have nothing to say to others who fall. My response, therefore, is to offer them a hand up and instead of pointing at them in angry accusation, I point them to Jesus, the only ONE Who has the full truth and the only ONE Who can change them for the better, propping up their humanity with Kingdom power and causing them to live life in a better-best way.
We’re not waging war against enemies of flesh and blood alone. No, this fight is against tyrants, against authorities, against supernatural powers and demon princes that slither in the darkness of this world, and against wicked spiritual armies that lurk about in heavenly places. And this is why you need to be head-to-toe in the full armor of God: so you can resist during these evil days and be fully prepared to hold your ground. Yes, stand—truth banded around your waist, righteousness as your chest plate, and feet protected in preparation to proclaim the good news of peace. Don’t forget to raise the shield of faith above all else, so you will be able to extinguish flaming spears hurled at you from the wicked one. Take also the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray always. Pray in the Spirit. Pray about everything in every way you know how! And keeping all this in mind, pray on behalf of God’s people. Keep on praying feverishly, and be on the lookout until evil has been stayed. Ephesians 6:12-18 The Voice
We All Fall Short
I realize too that when we impulsively do or say things that are part of our deplorable human condition, it hurts everyone. We never sin alone. But the point is WE all sin, we ALL have fallen short of God’s glory. No one stands alone in sin, we all are shoulder to human shoulder in it. The voice of devalue, condemnation and judgement, is our enemy, because our enemy’s intention is to kill the love of God in us, destroy all that is good in us. We all have a red target painted on our soul, we all have an enemy that hates us. We will take a hit when we courageously step up and be the Voice of truth. The enemy will try to silence truth, but God truth stands the test of trial, it is powerfully able to stand up to the enemy of our soul. We need to put on the belt of truth, hold up the shield of faith and use the sword of the Spirit to be able to endure and stand on the side of God’s Truth bringing great honor to Him. Truth is not so popular at times such as these, but God strengthens us when we stand on the side of His truth.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. James 1:5-8 NLT
God Is Fleshing Out And Truthing In
Crazy times we are growing through, yes they are. But God has not left us alone, all we have to do is ask and He guides us, growing us through. It is so ostracizing to be a voice of truth, to live on the right side of truth, but it did not steer Jesus off His course. God is “Fleshing Us Out”. God is trying to show us that it is by His power that we live successfully and by our human will power that we fail hard. When we are loyal to God, we are stable in right living. This is a season of choice where we are either going to walk in God’s power or walk in the power of the world. An undivided heart lasts, endures in strength, where a divided heart teeters out. Which one will you lean into? Human power or God power? One evokes offense, the other elicits humility.
All of Scripture is God-breathed; in its inspired voice, we hear useful teaching, rebuke, correction, instruction, and training for a life that is right so that God’s people may be up to the task ahead and have all they need to accomplish every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 The Voice
Jesus Had A Low Approval Rating
We fall into the trap of masking over who we are to please others, especially when we are trying to get popular votes to get elected by people. Jesus did not poll well and He had a very low approval rating. The cross is proof that Jesus did not follow polling numbers or approval ratings. Jesus was in followship of The Father God’s way, not in followship of voters votes. The Father God did not need to have enough votes to win, He had already won. God will stand with us, we must listen up to His Voice first and be people humbly and submissively impassioned by the living, powerful Word of God. We should be led by the voice of the Holy Spirit first. Decide to be a person who says and lives: “Thus Saith The Lord”. Jesus will strengthen our faith and stand with us and for us, as we are positioned on the side of His truth, with loyalty to His Kingdom first, no matter what is going on in our worldly political arena.
Pray It Up
We ALL, have hidden, secreted things in our lives that need to come to the surface. I pray that is so. Begin with me first Lord God, I submit myself to you, here is my heart. There is not one who is perfect that can throw the first stone at someone else. I don’t throw stones. We all have a human condition that is prone to making mistakes, we all are flawed in some way. I pray God brings every secreted thing in our heart and lives to light of truth, by the power only He can. There is such freedom in truth. I pray the Lord brings us ALL to our knees in repentance of our deplorable nature and helps us see our need to be clothed in Jesus, His robe of righteousness and His power.
Will You Be The One?
We need to be more forbearing with others, we have the same propensity towards sin that they do. Stop quitting on people because they fail, help them to get back up and fully face God and be restored. We need to stop judging each other, stoning each other and pointing self-righteous fingers at each other. We are bailing on each other, when we have the same sin nature. We need to dare to step out of our political demagoguery and stand against the corruption of lifting up deceptive human power so it is positioned higher than God’s power, authority and truth. Stand therefore, even if we are the only one standing for God’s truth. Truth is so contagious because it is so very refreshing for the soul in the freedom it yields.
God Is The Only Possessor Of Truth
Let’s live out of God’s living truth like no one else has ever dared to do. God has given us a voice to proclaim His Truth. God is the only One Who possesses real truth, it is in Him where all truth resides. God knows everything there is to know. Why would we not want to tap into this incredible power? We can never truly know the intentions and purposes of a heart like God can. We can only guess and we are always wrong because our human nature leans into negative assumption much more than positive presumption.
But whatever I used to count as my greatest accomplishments, I’ve written them off as a loss because of the Anointed One. And more so, I now realize that all I gained and thought was important was nothing but yesterday’s garbage compared to knowing the Anointed Jesus my Lord. For Him I have thrown everything aside—it’s nothing but a pile of waste—so that I may gain Him. When it counts, I want to be found belonging to Him, not clinging to my own righteousness based on law, but actively relying on the faithfulness of the Anointed One. This is true righteousness, supplied by God, acquired by faith. I want to know Him inside and out. I want to experience the power of His resurrection and join in His suffering, shaped by His death, so that I may arrive safely at the resurrection from the dead. Philippians 3:7-11 The Voice
Be Found In Christ
I know I am deplorable, but I also know that in Christ, I am pretty remarkable and I can be found being His way and truth, without trying, but by being found in Him, in the flow of His resurrection power. All things are possible in Christ Jesus, even the taming of our tongue, the calming of our reactive anger and righteous living in a lawless culture. We can, because He is in us and for us. Deplorable in flesh? Yes! Transformable By God? Yes! In Christ, I am not deplorable.
