Can’t you see how his action cooperated with his faith and by his action faith found its full expression? So in this way the Scripture was fulfilled: Because Abraham believed God, his faith was exchanged for God’s righteousness. So he became known as the lover of God! The Passion Translation James 2:22-23
Musing On Scripture
It is really fun to take one scripture a week and muse on it. Soul synchronize the reality of truth in the scripture by rolling it around and around in your mind. How can we make this personal? We think on it, we listen up to God and because He still speaks, His Holy Spirit will give us the personal discernment we need for this scripture to go from our head to our heart, right into the issues of our life.
Wholly – Holy Aligned
As I read through this scripture over and over, and I listen up to God. I heard Him ask me this: What are you doing? Is your life focused on your doings? Do you know life is not all about what you do? I heard the Holy Spirit clearly that day and deeply realized that my life was not fully about what I was “doing”, and the Holy Spirit wanted me to wholly-holy align my life with Him, first, my life should first be about Whose I was, my identity in Christ and my life, first, all about who I was being found in. What am I doing? I am being found in Jesus, and He is doing through me. (Philippians 3:8-10) Think on this!
Stirred By Jesus’ Heart Passion
If I was being found in Jesus, relating with Him, heart to Heart, my faith was being stirred up by His heart passion. I was hearing His heart and this created the passion in me to act out of my faith, out of my vital-vertical relationship with God. My faith would find its fullest expression in the actions of love, kindness, compassion, wisdom, courage, peace, strength, hope and joy, all of these empowered by God being on the move, working through me as I was making it personal with God through my vital-vertical relationship with Him.
Conviction Without Condemnation
I decided to focus and muse on the part of this scripture in James 2, where it says: “Abraham believed God”. I know that I believe in God, no doubt about that one. I know that I love Him, probably not as well as I should at times, my flesh gets in the way. I tried to figure out why don’t I love Him with my whole life, in that 24/7 kind of way that Abraham did. So, I dug deeper, listening up to God’s Holy Spirit. God said to me. “You do believe in me, but you don’t BELIEVE ME.” I said back: “I do believe you Lord.” He very tenderly, without condemnation, but with conviction said: “You don’t act like you believe Me.” Ouch. He was right and I stopped, dropped and prayed, asking God to change it up in me. Increase my faith through expression that punches doubt in the gut and pushes past its barriers to belief.
Reality Of Truth
As this scripture said: “His faith found its full expression through his actions.” I am not completely there yet. Probably a 7 out of 10, where my faith finds it full expression in my actions. I pray for all of us, me included, me very much included, that we would find ourselves wholly-holy positioned, aligned and living in this reality of truth: “I believe in God, I believe God”. May this wholly-holy faith, find its fullest expression in our motives, thoughts, attitudes, words and actions. Let it be so in us, let us BE wholly-holy-HIS. Increase our faith Lord Jesus and let it flow out in our actions of belief in You.
Pray It Up
Lord Jesus, I pray James 2:22-23 finds its way from our head to our heart to our actions. I hope we will experience the joy of faith fully expressed in our every moment, to our every choice.
