Humility

As a prisoner of the Lord, I plead with you to walk holy, in a way that is suitable to your high rank, given to you in your divine calling. With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another, especially toward those who may try your patience. Be faithful to guard the sweet harmony of the Holy Spirit among you in the bonds of peace, being one body and one spirit, as you were all called into the same glorious hope of divine destiny. Ephesians 4:1-4

Finger Pointing Critique

I point my finger at people and I say things to criticize who they are, or something I don’t like about them that makes me uncomfortable, but then I realize that I am the same way, I have the same human condition. What I am pointing out about them may be exactly what I am uncomfortable about myself. I project it on them, because it is easier to be critical of them than deal with the things I need to change in myself. Have you been there and done that? I sure have. I am careful who I talk to, I talk to my husband because I trust Him with my feelings and thoughts. But we are critical people, it seems to be the human way, the human condition. We need to change it up to God’s way and be more like the image we were created in. The character of Jesus, there are a lot of words to describe His amazing character, but one really sticks out to me right now… humility. Jesus Christ modeled it, precious humility as He came to us, here. Listen up to this 1 Minute Encouragement Video, it will speak precious truth:

Fill up and complete my joy by living in harmony and being of the same mind and one in purpose, having the same love, being in full accord and of one harmonious mind and intention. Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves]. Let each of you esteem and look upon and be concerned for not [merely] his own interests, but also each for the interests of others. Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] Who, although being essentially one with God and in the form of God [possessing the fullness of the attributes which make God God], did not think this equality with God was a thing to be eagerly grasped or retained, But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being. And after He had appeared in human form, He abased and humbled Himself [still further] and carried His obedience to the extreme of death, even the death of the cross! Philippians 2:2-8

Activate Humility ~ Experience God’s Goodness

There are so many things in a day that can offend us, because we have an enemy of our soul, who given an open door will kick it wide open and come in with all of his devilish friends. Discouragement, disillusionment, disappointment, we all have felt these things about each other. Where do they come from? From the one who wants to create disunity and enmity between us and God. The Father of lies, who is all about offense,  who truly loves to stir up a good disagreement between God’s people, a relational squabble about truly nothing true. This is the reality of truth, that there is no truth about what the enemy does because the enemy lies and misrepresents with assumption, presupposition, speculation and rationalization. Humility activated will shut that wide open door, shutting the mouth of evil, kicking out the devil and all his acquaintances, and ushering in the goodness of God and His truth.

Gentleness (meekness, humility), self-control (self-restraint, continence). Against such things there is no law [that can bring a charge]. And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires. If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.] Let us not become vainglorious and self-conceited, competitive and challenging and provoking and irritating to one another, envying and being jealous of one another.’ Galatians 5:23-26

  1. Yes and Amen, Kim! I am SO excited that after finishing leading Experiencing God and Exp. God in the Workplace, my next study will be a repeat of the now updated “The Lies Women Believe and the Truth that sets them free”. I have such a passion to share truth with women who find themselves with footholds, or even strongholds in their lives! I know you are passionate too, so thank you for all you do for God’s Kingdom!
