The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. That is the substance of our Message. We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity. To be mature is to be basic. Christ! No more, no less. That’s what I’m working so hard at day after day, year after year, doing my best with the energy God so generously gives me. MSG Colossians 1:27
A Conversation Begins
This is the beginning of a conversation God wants to have with us, who in times such as these are aging, and need to know how to navigate the waters of life in this season. The old navigation charts are not going to work in these storms of life that are brewing. We need new ways to navigate times such as these. Let’s start this conversation with God. He has things to say to His “Gray Haired” ones. Whatever God gives us, whatever amount of energy, time, talent, wisdom, whatever it is that He gifts us with in this life season, we need to be determined to use it for His glory. As we are getting older, we don’t want to sit back and wallow in a negative outlook. We hope to arise as bold, courageous, wise Senior Adults in times such as these. We could even ask God for more than we can handle, so we would be found serving, caring for, and loving our families and communities in ways that are more than we could ever hope to, or imagine we could do in this life season. Senior Adults, we are viable and vital as we remain in a vital-vertical relationship with Jesus. Christ In Us, Our Hope Of Glory.
Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained by living a godly life. Proverbs 16:31
Time Is Flying By
Time does fly by fast and furiously in times such as these, and no doubt about it, this is one thing we human beings can’t control. We are all aging. Day by day we get older, and some of us get wiser, and some of us stop living and giving. Which one are you? Do you think because you are aging that your best days are behind you, or do you believe your best days are yet to come? Many of us are approaching our “Senior Years” or are in our Senior Years, and I would like to know “What Say You”! We have God purpose in play, this doesn’t stop with the aging of our bodies. What are some of the struggles and obstacles that those of us who are aging day by day, are facing in times such as these. We need to “identify our challenges” speak out what we think are the “giants” challenging us, and get a spirit of David in us. Think on this: There is no challenge, in our aging processes, that is so great that it surpasses the God Purpose in play in our lives. Even in aging, God’s purposes are greater in us than the challenges we face as we age. Senior Adults, there is no need to get complacent and if we have, it is time to wake up and let’s shake off the dread that dampens our hope, the discouragement about getting older, and realize the truth that the best of our life is yet to come. As the sun rises, we always have the hope of a new day and the truth that God will be with us in love, grace, mercy, peace and power. Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it! Christ is our message! We preach to awaken hearts and bring every person into the full understanding of truth. It has become my inspiration and passion in ministry to labor with a tireless intensity, with his power flowing through me, to present to every believer the revelation of being his perfect one in Jesus Christ. Colossians 1:27-29
Awaken To Truth ~ Talk It Up
There is never a season of life, as long as we breathe on this earth, that God purpose is not alive in us. We are constantly growing, learning and changing. The heart of the Gospel is change. The greatest transformation known to mankind happened as Jesus arose from the dead and changed things up for us from death to life. Change is a part of life, as aging is a part of life, and there is great God purpose in change and in aging. We are never left alone no matter what life season we find ourselves in, no matter what changes we find ourselves facing. We might feel alone because of how society has isolated us. We might feel alone because we have let fear shape our choices. We might feel alone in our anxiety because of the deafening roar of our cultural chaos, we might feel alone because of the rampant deception in our culture and the complete mediatic false frenzy of our news. Now more than ever, we need to start listening up to God and one another, drawing near to God and one another, establishing unity with God and one another. We don’t have to fend for ourselves. Together is better and we are better together with God and each other, together. Christ in us, the hope of glory. Listen up to this 1 Minute Encouragement Video about togetherness.
Identifying Our Needs
This season of time, these last few years, the changes in our culture, our health and the quality of our lives have taken a toll on us, especially those in Senior years. Everything Seniors have known as a strong foundation in their lives is being changed. History is no longer viable, it is being rewritten, freedoms are being erased, finances are in jeopardy, health care has declined, lawlessness threatens our security, and isolation from others has increased. As we age, we don’t have the same world we had before, we are facing giants. We have needs as the Senior population of our world that are so different from other stages of life. Some of these needs vary and some of them scare the hell out of us as we face aging in a time when the security and foundation of our nations are crumbling before our eyes. We have needs in times such as these that are much different from those of the generation that has gone before us. We need to start a conversation and express those feelings and needs, clarify them so that they are not as scary as they may seem now. Together, things are not as big and frightening as they seem facing them alone. Together in Christ, and with each other, we are much stronger, wiser and capable than we think we are. Things are not always as we think they are, they are better when we are encouraged by one another, sharing and caring for one another. The reality of truth becomes much clearer when we are hearing from others and we identify our needs, and together acknowledge the One Who can, and will meet our every need, Christ in us, our hope of glory.
Goliath walked out toward David with his shield bearer ahead of him, sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy. “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “that you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods. “Come over here, and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and wild animals!” Goliath yelled. David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord ’s battle, and he will give you to us!” As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground. 1 Samuel 17:41-49
Step Up Patriarchs – Matriarchs
As we age, grow and change, the best way to do that is together. Together we can identify our needs for a time such as this, and together we can in Christ, grow, learn and face our giants with the strength, wisdom and bold confidence of Jesus in us. It is the time for Seniors to wake up, shake off the doldrums, discouragement, dread, fear, and step out and take the rightful place God has shaped us and designed for us to be in a time such as this. We are the Matriarchs of this life season. We are the Patriarchs for a time such as this. Step up Seniors, we must take our rightful place in our family life. We must become motivated by God purpose first, and not let our dread of aging in chaotic cultural times such as these, dictate, devalue, speak down to us! We must arise and shine and take our stand on the side of God’s truth and be led by a tight followship of God, just like David did. David did not listen to the giants, David was not defined by his age. But, David, listening up to God and picking up the stones as God led Him to do, David did something He never dreamed He could do. Seniors, this is our time to start adding value to each other and arise and shine in this generation.
Put your face in the sunlight. God’s bright glory has risen for you. The whole earth is wrapped in darkness, all people sunk in deep darkness, But God rises on you, his sunrise glory breaks over you. MSG 'Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord shines over you. For look, darkness will cover the earth, and total darkness the peoples; but the Lord will shine over you, and his glory will appear over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to your shining brightness. Isaiah 60:1-3 CSB
Arise – Shine
Hey Senior Adults, Let’s have a God Conversation, so we can wake up out of our sleepy complacency, we have things to do in this generation. Let’s step out and begin exercising our Inner Spiritual Core, and Arise-Shine in this generation God has placed us in with great purpose. What are our first steps? Well, they could be to: 1) Turn From Fear, Anxiety, And Dread, And Fully Face God. 2)Acknowledge God Is With Us. 3)Identify Our Needs In These Times. 4)Ask God For What We Need. 5)Listen Up To Be Navigated. 6) Activate Our Faith 7)Stay In Followship Of Jesus. It is a time to “Arise And Shine” as bold, courageous and strong Senior Adults. We can talk about the giants are we facing in times such as these, yes we can. But, let’s not stay there, focused on us. After we identify our needs, let’s begin focusing up. I hope to see us all “growing through” as Senior Adults, with hope that is anchored in Jesus. Even in this right is wrong, wrong is right, topsy-turvy chaotic culture, we find ourselves suddenly thrust into the middle of, I hope we know the anchor that will hold us. Senior Adults, we can know and share without a doubt, that we have a Deliverer, we have an Advocate, we have an Awe-Amazing God looking out for us, and He has provided an incredible future for us. Therefore, Senior Adults, the time is now to Arise And Shine. Please join the conversation and leave a comment. God bless you and yours.
The Spirit of the Lord God is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lord ’s favor, and the day of our God’s vengeance; to comfort all who mourn, to provide for those who mourn in Zion; to give them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, festive oil instead of mourning, and splendid clothes instead of despair. And they will be called righteous trees, planted by the Lord to glorify him. Isaiah 61:1-3
