Romans 12:19-21 Beloved, don’t be obsessed with taking revenge, but leave that to God’s righteous justice. For the Scriptures say: “If you don’t take justice in your own hands, I will release justice for you,” says the Lord. 20 And: If your enemy is hungry, buy him lunch! Win him over with kindness. For your surprising generosity will awaken his conscience, and God will reward you with favor. 21 Never let evil defeat you, but defeat evil with good.
We constantly battle, our human condition. We can’t react with the same violence that was horrifically shown us. We must first, respond to God. When the pain of horrific human deeds slams our soul, we lament, we grieve, we repent over the atrocious actions of our human condition. In times such as these, our deplorable human nature is paraded throughout our nations as people hurt people as people try to enslave other people. It is so hard on the soul to experience the battle field of our human nature. We are shockingly saddened, and we must guard our hearts so we do not flesh out in retaliation. It is good in times such as these to pour our hearts out to God and pray it up to our God for our nations. It is so wise to sacrifice the right to our reaction and listen up first to God, and change it up, our natural reaction, exchange it for how we are to respond in followship of Jesus.
The bloodthirst of vengeance is a violent side of our human condition. When revenge is given into and fleshed out, it will continue to devour and destroy because it is never quite satiated, until you confront it and stop it. Revenge is not used well by the human nature; our human condition is easily overcome by the illegitimacy of retaliation’s power, a deplorable human reaction, which is able to carry us further and deeper into degenerate behavior than we ever imagined possible. Retaliation never belonged to human beings, because of the human condition we were born into. We think we know so much, but we don’t know what we think we know, only God knows the hearts and true motives of men. For this reason, vengeance, it belongs only to God, the only One Who can bring about true justice through it. The battle of retaliation and the victory of true justice, these, belong to God alone, because only He can administer vengeance sovereignly so.
Deuteronomy 32:34-39 But Israel is my special people, sealed as jewels within my treasury. 35 Vengeance is mine, and I decree the punishment of all her enemies: their doom is sealed. 36 The Lord will see his people righted, and will have compassion on them when they slip. He will watch their power ebb away, both slave and free. 37 Then God will ask, ‘Where are their gods—The rocks they claimed to be their refuge? 38 Where are these gods now, to whom they sacrificed their fat and wine? Let those gods arise, and help them! 39 Don’t you see that I alone am God? I kill and make live. I wound and heal— No one delivers from my power. Living Bible
