A talkative soul lacks both the essential virtues and intimacy with God. A deeper interior life, one of gentle peace and of that silence where the Lord dwells, is quite out of the question. A soul that has never tasted the sweetness of inner silence is a restless spirit which disturbs the silence of others. – St. Faustina
The Beauty Of Silent Peace
Oh, the beauty and peace of silence. The sounds of silence that most of us absolutely love, differ for each of us. Mine is a creek. I love that sound of silence. This beautiful sound speaks such peace to my soul. When I feel fatigued by my life situations, I know the best recourse is for me to find that place of peace in God’s Presence. I love sitting by a creek and just listening to the beautiful sounds of silence as I sit in God’s Presence and listen up for His comfort for my soul. Listen up to this 1 Minute Encouragement Video On The Beauty Of Silence.
The next morning, Jesus got up long before daylight, left the house while it was dark, and made his way to a secluded place to give himself to prayer. Mark 1:35
A Roaring Culture
We don’t have much quiet in our roaring culture. Everyone has something to say and we are all saying it louder and louder so we can be heard. Speculation, opinions, assumptions are so loud as people try to push to the forefront their way, their fiction and their fake reality. LOUD! Chaotic and peaceless, this is our cultural synopsis of these times. This is why times of silence and peaceful heart to heart moments with our God, are so priceless and valuable to us in times such as these.
In this oasis of quiet, before the wonderful spectacle of nature, one easily experiences how profitable silence is, a good that today is ever more rare… In reality, only in silence does man succeed in hearing in the depth of his conscience the voice of God, which really makes him free. – Pope John Paul II
Quiet God Moments
We need to take quiet moments with God, this is so good for our soul. These quiet moments feed our soul with strength and nourish our spirit with the fortitude it needs to fight the good fight of faith. There is nothing beautiful about a chaotic culture, and that is why silence can be such a beautiful thing for our soul to behold. The roar of our culture has unhinged people’s lives, and we are encircled by frazzled emotions. There is nothing quite like the quiet of God, where we silently sit in His Presence and He speaks peace into our soul.
At this, the enemies of Jesus were wild with rage and began to discuss what to do with him. One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night. Luke 6:11-12
Listen Up To God
A strong, unrelenting “Cultural Roar” can be so unhinging for our emotions. It is like a barking dog that consistently steals our quiet and rest for our soul. This is why we need to step outside the roar of our culture, move away from its influence and take some moments of silence and prayer. It is so good in times such as these to still our soul, and listen up for God’s Holy Spirit, as He speaks soothing peace to us, and soul saturates us with hope, so much so, that we know it is well with our soul. Oh, the beautiful sounds of silence!
“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.” Psalms 40:1-3
