This study of Romans has started my mind musing. I have been thinking through a lot of scriptures in the book of Romans as Pastor Bill, enlightens all of us with his gift of teaching. I like to muse on scriptures, but I don’t do it alone. I invite God into my thinking. I want to hear God’s thoughts, know His mind and be inspired by what He thinks about the scripture I am thinking through. So, when I am studying the Word, I look up, and I listen up. Therefore, I am hearing some things from God through this study that are unique and quite revealing. God still speaks, I believe this and therefore, I expect God to speak as I learn and grow through with others. I know during a study like this, we should keep our ears wide open to God’s Holy Spirit because His perspective is definitely worth hearing.
Think On This: The man who is physically uncircumcised but still keeps the law, he will stand in judgment over the person who is circumcised and yet continually breaks God’s law. A mark that is evident doesn’t necessarily make one a Jew, and circumcision that is evident only in the flesh is not true. But the true Jew is Jewish on the inside—in secret places no one but God can see—and true circumcision involves the heart; it comes from the Spirit, not from some written code. The praise and reputation of that kind of Jew come from God, not from man. Romans 2:27-29
My Thoughts About This Scripture
As I listened up to God for revelation on this scripture, I realized that an outward sign means nothing, and an inward heart condition means everything. I was thinking this out and remembered another scripture that said this too, that out of our heart flows our life issues. But really, can we truly know the heart motive of an outward life? You can say things all day long, but what truly speaks is your actions that come from a heart after God. Listen Up.
Can I Know My Heart?
By the inspiration of God’s Holy Spirit, I started musing on, thinking through all the traditions we Christians have. I am thinking that traditions kept doesn’t make me a Christian, the Word of God read does not make me a Christian? I look up. I listen up. And the Holy Spirit reminds me of this: “It is a long way from my head to my heart, that is a big gap.” Then I think that being a dutiful Christian, making choices out of duty doesn’t make me a Christian either. Religiosity has a stank I still am washing off my life. Well, can I know my heart? Not sure. I have a human condition that I don’t need to underestimate. I have sinned, I have fallen short of God’s glory. I am guessing so have you. There is none perfect, no not one, but Jesus. Think On This.
What Is The Foundation Of My Identity?
I am a Christian because I have accepted Jesus Christ and He reigns in me at the core of my being, my identity is in Him. I have chosen to give Jesus total access to my life. I do what I do because I passionately love God, I am a part of His life, my identity is in His Way, Truth, Life, and His Kingdom. I hope and desire to add value to God’s Kingdom. It is my desire to have a reputation that says: “Miraculously So”, she walks with God and her legacy is living. Therefore, I diligently guard my heart, because I know from the inner core of my being, this is where the issues of my life will flow out of. Look Up.
Think On This: You are so proud of knowing the law, but you dishonor God by breaking it. 24 No wonder the Scriptures say, “The Gentiles blaspheme the name of God because of you.”
Romans 2:23 New Living Translation
When I study the Word, the Holy Spirit very often gives me Cross References to think on too. God has something to say and He ties together the revelation with the inspiration of cross references. I always look for a cross reference, because it adds a deeper intuition to my thinking and the heart of God, usually comes out a bit stronger. Cross references are a source of clarity for me and they also stretch the tent pegs of my mind to God’s revelations. Think On This.
Think On This: Whenever they settled among the nations of their exile, they defiled My sacred name. Everywhere they went people were saying, “These are the Eternal’s people, yet they have been forced out of His land.” Ezekiel 36:20 The Voice
The Holy Spirit Whispers In A Still Small Voice
I am thinking on it. These few verses and the revelation that comes out of it is completely convicting me. I know without a doubt, that we are losing spiritual territory in the united states. Just take a look at some of the controversial laws that are being passed in our nation, laws that refute God’s Word. We Christians like to point out all the people who are rebelling at this time in our nation, exchanging many of God truths for lies of the enemy. But, in the light of this scripture in Romans, and the two cross references, the Holy Spirit whispers in my heart this question to muse about: Could it be that you all had a part in this? Could Christians have brought this persecution on themselves? Change It Up.
Think On It. This scripture is a mirror image of our today and in heavenly hindsight could we have brought this on ourselves? Isaiah 52:5 My people have been taken away without reason? Those who rule over them howl with taunting and mockery of salvation,” declares the Lord, “and My name is continually blasphemed all day long. Amplified Bible
Could It Be Us That Needs To Change It Up?
The reputation of The Bride Of Christ becomes tattered when we say we are His, but we don’t follow Him or act like him. We act like people who know no power higher than ourselves. We think to ourselves: I’ve got this. Then, we do our own thing and it usually does not end well and this dishonors God’s Name. We can see in our generation, that God is being disrespected, mocked and defamed. Could it be that we had a part in this dishonoring that is taking place? Could it be that we dishonored Him first, by not being all in with Him? Could we have brought this persecution on ourselves? Could it be that repentance and change needs to begin with us, The Body Of Christ? Think On It!
I’ve learned that His anger lasts for a moment, but His loving favor lasts a lifetime! We may weep through the night, but at daybreak it will turn into shouts of ecstatic joy. Psalm 30:5 The Passion Translation
Let’s Lighten It Up With Joy
Romans can really be a book that cause much inner reflecting. Sometimes that is hard for us, makes us sad, as we focus on the depravity of the human condition. Yet, our study of Romans is not meant to steal our joy, it is meant to bring us to the abundance of life in Christ Jesus. Our world is a mess, we can’t look away from that. We live with it every day as people get more and more angry and violent, and there is no tolerance for the differences we disagree on. This has become a culture of what is right is wrong and what is wrong is right, and it is my way or the highway. The news is so intolerable, so depressing, it is not really news anymore. Real journalism is dead, it has been taken over by the stank of personal bias. In times such as these, we have a choice, we can sink into the depressive nature of our culture, or we can choose joy.
