It Is Hard To Forgive Those Who Hurt Others
When you hear the hurt in the voice of someone you love because someone hurt them, fire rises up in your emotions and you want to lash back at the people who have devalued the one you love. The hardest thing I have found to do in this life is to forgive those who hurt the one you love the most. Yet the closest example of this is the One TRUE God, Who is constantly reaching out to us with His mercy. Help me to glean from Him today Lord Jesus and help me to return good for evil as He does every single day. Thank you Lord God for the work that You will do in my heart.
Disappointment Is A Trap
Disappointment in people is such a trap. When you feel let down, your expectations dashed, it is such a struggle not to take up an offense and carry it. This is where what you have learned about letting go and letting God needs to come into the practice of your reality. People will always let each other down, not care about others like they should and hurt other people by not adding value to them when they have every opportunity to do so, human beings can be so… human.
Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven! Matthew 18:21-22 NLT
Forgive Because God Forgave You
We all have it, this human condition that tends to lean into self more than anything, a totally not perfect condition of our flesh. God prepared us for this beforehand and I have to continually remind myself of this. God forgave us so much and we need to continue to forgive others 70x 7 just as He said, just as He did. I need to guard my heart, especially when I am feeling very disappointed in the actions of humanity. It is good to remind myself that Jesus died for sinners, those hurting people that hurt people.
Expectations Trip You Up
Our expectations can trip us up, even if they are legitimate, they can still cause us to fall into disappointment. The best thing to do in this world where selfishness is constantly trumping selflessness, human pride is over running humility, and foolishness is stepping out ahead of wisdom, is to put your expectations in the safest place on this planet, in God’s hands.

Truth Is The Best Solution
The truth is something that always brings the best solution to disappointments. It is good to remind ourselves of the truth that people can’t ever meet your needs, only God can. When we look to people to meet our needs, it is a huge trap for our soul. We need to dig our life roots deeply in God’s life and shake off every dependency that binds us to expectations in human beings.
Follow After God’s Purpose
We all have the opportunity to add value to each other lives. This is our purpose to be valuable to God and add significance to others by constantly encouraging them and pointing them to Jesus. When we are offended and bitterness takes root in us, this damns up the flow of value from our lives, flip flops our intentions to devaluing others instead of valuing them. We have to guard our hearts from the trap of offense and it begins at the point of our human expectations. We must put them in God’s hands and take out of God’s hands the purity of truth that takes our focus off of ourselves and harmonizes it with the mind and thoughts of Jesus Christ, and the purposes and intents of His heart.
