Go Send I

A Vision Dreamed: Joel 2: 27-28

One day, not to long ago, there was a vision, a dream given by God, about a God intervention that would happen on a football field,  given to a student named Reed, a FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes student, who then shared his vision with Ben, a FCA, staff and Kyle, a local Pastor, who all worked together with various FCA leaders, Pender County school, police, and community leaders, and the God given vision of “FCA Fields Of Faith” happened one Friday night on the Pender High School football field. I am a person who was deeply touched by this vision carried out by God.

Will You Not Revive Us Again? Psalm 85:6-7

What a beautiful evening God gave us as we worshipped together, the music was so beautiful, and the praise of God so reviving, and we were given a wake up call from our God, from various students who shared their testimonies, and from Reed who challenged us all, all generations, from the passage of Scripture Isaiah 6:1-8. Holy, Holy, Holy is our God and our response to such a magnificent Holy God, is to be undone, dying to ourselves, to our flesh, purified by God, we become God’s Servant Warriors, we get up, go and share the gospel, so others can be saved, delivered, and healed, taking the gospel into our schools, neighborhoods, communities, state, nations, and sharing the Love and message of Jesus wherever He takes us.

Go, Send I… Isaiah 6:1-8

The miracle that happened that night on that football field, from my “Senior Age” perspective was a renewed awakening, that God is charging youth to go… “Go Send I” but as the night went on, all generations realized that God was also speaking to us adults and senior adults…. Go, Send I. Through Reed and His vision and message, God spoke to all generations that night of “FCA Fields Of Faith”!

Blessing From Generation To Generation: Numbers 6:22-27

God blessed us all, not only did He save, deliver, and heal students, but God did, as He normally does, He unified us from generation to generation, as you can see by this sweet picture I captured, this was  one of His intents. I am a seasoned, senior adult, a God servant, a servant Warrior of God, who spent most of my young adult and adult life in ministry in my local church with children and teens, and some of that time was spent with FCA and Tuesday Night Live youth gathering at our local church, in servant leadership, doing club meetings for youth, summer youth retreats, discipleship, counseling, teaching, exhorting, feeding, housing foster care, and loving and mentoring of youth. 24-7 was the call to youth by God for my husband and I and we have seen the blessing of God from generation to generation as He Promised.

Dare To Care: Colossians 3:17-23

Because of our current age, we felt like we had been benched on the football field of teenage mission. But God showed us that night of “FCA Fields of Faith” that we are not benched, we had benched ourselves, and that it is time for us and all senior adults to get off the sidelines and get back in the game with God of loving, praying, encouraging, mentoring and daring to care for the generations below ours! Go Send I. No one should live, breathe and have their being alone. We go together, in Christ, we grow through together, daring to care in and through the love of Jesus Christ. Be Interested In Others And What Interests Them: Philippians 2:4

We both felt a renewed call by God at the “FCA Fields Of Faith” event.  I am not charged by God to go and do again what I did all those years, but I did hear a wake up call for Seniors Adults that night and I know God will creatively send me in a new way. God said: You are not sidelined because of your age, I am asking you to “Go Send I”! I am asking You to dare to care, and stand with the generation beneath you. Pray for them, support them, emotionally, spiritually, love them, believe in them, encourage them, mentoring them with godly wisdom  and support financially those I call you to support. Don’t go a day without hugging somebody, loving somebody, encouraging somebody, mentoring somebody, teaching somebody, praying for somebody, in the generation coming up after us. Be a parent or grandparent to those who have none, those the enemy has stolen this kind of family support from! Go Send I, should be the prayer on every Senior Adults heart each morning…

In Every Life Season, We Care, We Love Others = 2 Timothy 4:1-2

Senior Adults, it is not our time to step out of the game, retire, and relax and let the next generation do it all. We are needed now more than ever. Our good God purpose is not done until we take our final breath and are called home. The youth were called out to God that Friday night at the FCA “Fields Of Faith” but the miracle I am addressing is what also happened in the hearts of the adults and senior adults! It is time for us to partner with youth, undergird them, love them and support them. There are so many preteen and youth who are broken in spirit, because broken adults,  break teenagers. Senior Adults, we can embrace them in their hurts, in their fears, and we can love them, encourage them, mentor them, give them godly wisdom and counsel. We have experienced many life challenges in our lives, so we have the overflow of godly wisdom as every life experience yields it.

Share Your Life-Experience Wisdom: Proverbs 20:28-29

Senior Adults, don’t step off the field now, embrace the younger generation, the generations below us. Some of us were athletes, most of our lives, so we can relate in that way, some of us were broken by adults in our lives, so we can relate that way, some of us had life disappointments and great challenges we overcame, so we can relate in that way. The bridge to the next generation is the life experiences God gave us, and the godly wisdom we gained. Step out on that bridge and bridge walk across and bridge the generational gap!  As I stood on that high school football field, hand in hand, one among many, many generations, at the “FCA Fields Of Faith” event, hundreds in a huge circle of all generations, hand in hand before our God, I felt the regeneration of God, that call to unity between all generations, to “Go Send I”!

Called By God We Share Love And Wisdom With The Next Generation: Psalm 71:18-21

We, Senior Adults, can be open to the call of God, to be the godly Senior Adult generation, who cries out Holy, Holy, Holy, humbly to our God, older in body, yet strong in spirit in Jesus. We can step off the sideline and get in the game. Break The Silence Between Generations! Being a kind, caring adult, and supporting parents, or by being a grandpa and grandma, that a young person may never have had, and badly need. How can that happen? God knows! God has a plan! We must open our hearts wide to God, and in our Senior years, let go of the idea that “we have served” and now it is their time to serve, and embrace the truth that God is not done with us yet, we are not sidelined, get out there on the field of faith with our youth, come along side of them, and undergird them however God calls us to do so. Go Send I…

God Is Interested In All Ages: 1 Timothy 2:4-8

My husband and I were humbly privileged to spend years with teenagers watching God save, deliver, and heal them and for those God Adventurous years, of 24-7 ministry to youth, we praise Him! As we stepped out of over a decade of Youth Ministry into our Senior years, God opened the door to give us now a thriving ministry to Senior Adults, at a local Senior Adult assisted living rehabilitation center, where we are watching God love, heal, save, and deliver these aging Seniors in wheelchairs, and it  has touched our hearts deeply, the love He has for them.

Arise And Go: Isaiah 60:1-4

We thought we were sidelined in youth ministry, but one day, a friend asked us to go to a Fellowship of Christian athletes fundraiser dinner. That invite took us back in heavenly hindsight to so many fond memories. So we went. It was such a good night, and a reawakening of sorts for us, for the generations below us. Then recently God called us out of our comfortable church going, to go and help plant a new Gathering Church in Burgaw. So we said yes.

Don’t Resist – Say Yes To God: Exodus 4:13-15

Then Kyle, this amazing young pastor of Gathering Burgaw Church,  Who God called us to undergird and encourage, asked us to help with FCA Fields Of Faith as a volunteer. We felt that familiar tug of God, but we resisted it, because of our age. We thought, Kyle doesn’t know how old we are, because we don’t look our age. Being in youth ministry all those years kept us young, and I say it forever ruined us in our senior years, because we still listen to loud contemporary Christian music, and have trouble dressing appropriately for our age! 😂😂

Seniors Off The Sidelines-Equipped By God: Proverbs 16:3

But God, He knew our age, and still wanted us to go and serve. So glad we did, because as we listened to Reed, a FCA student leader, despite our age, we heard God say from this FCA inspiring student leader, get off the sidelines…. Go Send I! Not sure how this will look for us in our Senior Years, but sure that our very “Creative God” will empower us, equip us, and send us out in His way, which will be perfect in His purpose for a time such as this. So today, we encourage ourselves and all Senior Adults… get off the sidelines, get back into the game and begin with a smile, a spoken hello, an encouragement, an interest in what they are interested in, and then a willingness to sacrificially love, exhort, support, and dare to care for someone, everyday, someone in the generations below ours! God bless ya!

The Reality Of Truth Is This: Everything we do is determined not by our age, but by our heart passion for Jesus Christ. We choose whom we will serve from moment to choice, directed by God, being all in with God, equipped by God, and sent by God.

Go Send I…

Thank you for stopping by The Bridegroom’s Cafe at the Soul Satisfied Seniors Table. We hope this spiritual meal inspired you. God recently spoke to me at a Fellowship Of Christian Athletes event called: Fields of Faith. I was surprised at how many Senior Adults came out of an event for students, and even more surprised when the speaker, a Senior in High School, spoke not only to the teens but to the adults a message that we all needed to hear. Go Send I from Isaiah 6:1-6. I hope you enjoyed my “take” on this event, and what I heard God say from my perspective as a Senior Adult. God bless you MUCH. KimberlyMac, Author.
