So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will flee in agony. (As translated from the Aramaic. The accuser will flee in agony because of the One who stands with you.) 8 Move your heart closer and closer to God, and he will come even closer to you. But make sure you cleanse your life, you sinners, and keep your heart pure and stop doubting. (“you double-minded). 9 Feel the pain of your sin, be sorrowful and weep! Let your joking around be turned into mourning and your joy into deep humiliation. 10 Be willing to be made low before the Lord and he will exalt you! James 4:7-10
Nous Defions – Spiritual Warfare Is Surrender
I sit before you in the stillness, my soul quieted in surrender to You. Purify My Heart Jesus! Humility before our God, is at times our Nous Defions – it is our resisting of the enemy of our soul. Humility is powerful! God asked us to have courage to be brave, and surrender all the things that are not going our way on this side of heaven, this is courageous obedience, this courage is beautiful surrender to Jesus until we want nothing but Him, and are fully yielded to His Will, until we say YES, Lord, and until Jesus is our answer, the only answer we need.
Cleanse My Soul
Jesus, purify our hearts, cleanse our souls and make us holy. This is the resistance of the enemy of our soul, giving our lives to Jesus, giving the Holy Spirit complete design control of our lives, and yielding to the Father God our will. Now is the time for becoming willess before the God of the Universe, asking Him to purify our hearts of all things us, asking Him to make us holy, holy, holy, like He so magnificently is.
1 John 1: 9 But if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Confession of sin is the way to find restoration and unbroken fellowship with God. It cleanses the conscience and removes every obstacle from communion with Christ. Confession does not gain God’s acceptance, for that was won for us forever by the sacrifice of Christ. It is on the basis of being his dearly loved children that we restore intimacy with God through our tenderhearted confession before him. God will always be faithful to restore our first-love passion for him. The Passion Translation Commentary 1 John 1:9
Beautiful Surrender
Surrender is the most beautiful offering we can give our King Jesus. Taking all the unanswered questions, yes, what we “think” (Because God is always at work in the unseen for our good and His glory) are the unanswered questions, and giving them to God, laying them at the feet of Jesus and yielding to His way, truth and life. This is when humility becomes as powerful in our lives as it was in Jesus’s life when he said: “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” (Luke 22:42)
Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the way everlasting. Psalms 139:23-24
It is obvious from the chaos of our culture that hurt people, hurt people and it leaves us with a wounded soul. It is so good for us to take all the soul bitterness that has been churning up our emotions, and all those we have not forgiven and humbly pray, and let the fire of God come down and burn out that bitter dross (Hebrews 12:15) in our soul, and make us like Him, the purity of His righteousness, shining clearly, brightly and God gloriously out of us.
“Unrighteousness,” means the sins we’re not aware of. Confession cleanses known sin and restores fellowship with God, but God’s faithfulness, in seeing Christ as our Sin-Bearer, cleanses us from all unknown sin as well. If we do but one thing (confess our sin), God will do four things: (1) demonstrate his faithful love, (2) demonstrate justice by counting our sins paid for by Christ, (3) forgive us every sin, and (4) continue a deeper work of cleansing from all aspects of sin’s defilement. The Passion Translation Commentary 1 John 1:9
Jesus, Our Answer Is YOU
YES, I Say YES! Father God I say YES, let Your will be done in me. Holy Spirit I say purify my heart and make me holy like Jesus, and set me apart unto Him. Father God, Show us any wicked way in us Lord Jesus, have Your way in us. Lord, we confess our sins, we confess our weaknesses, and ask that You, Holy Spirit, purify our hearts from all unrighteousness and make us holy. Set us apart, Jesus, and let our hearts be pure before our Father God. We want nothing in-between us. Jesus, You are our YES, You are our Answer that we seek, all other answers that we want mean nothing in light of Your eternity, Your Spirit and Truth. Today, we surrender all the questions we have, all the unanswered prayer, and we yield to You, for the outcomes. YOU, Jesus are our Yes. Jesus, You are our help and shield, our ROCK and we look to You, and You Alone. Jesus You are our ANSWER, our only answer that we seek. Jesus be our wisdom, because Lord, in Your Omniscient ways, You know just what to do. YES, Lord, strengthen us as we wholly-holy love You as our first desire, our ANSWER.
There is no need to confess the same sins over and over, for that is ignoring the blood of Jesus that cleanses us. All of our sins were paid for on the cross and we can do nothing to remove them, but confession acknowledges God’s faithfulness to restore our intimacy with him. Our Father and our forgiving Redeemer fill the heavens with grace toward every believer, even when we sin. The Passion Translation Commentary 1 John 1:9
