Assumptions Are… Fosters Of Strife
Assumptions are damaging to relationships. ASSumption is at the foundation of all strife, the foundation of every relational break up. We human beings in our human condition, we naturally assume. We need to change this up to supernaturally being led by the Holy Spirit of God into all truth. Jesus showed us how to live in truth, He never assumed anything and therefore, He acted justly, lovingly, kind, and merciful. Jesus never lied, never walked in presupposition, never speculated, always spoke truth. Assumption is not truth, it is a ploy of the enemy to steal, kill and destroy. Assumption is pure deception, it is what the enemy puts out as light, it is a white lie, very deceptively so, the enemy of our soul can come in as an angel of light with assumptions in tow.
2 Corinthians 11:14-15 That doesn’t surprise us, for even Satan transforms himself to appear as an angel of light! So it’s no wonder his servants also go about pretending to be ministers of righteousness. But in the end they will be exposed and get exactly what they deserve.
Assumptions Are… An Ugly Vice Of The Enemy
Assumptions are not truth. If you are assuming something and you do not know it to be truth, then refrain from speaking it. Assumption is used in many false narratives, many false attacks against the reputation of others. We do not know what we assume or think we know. Assumption is also used to manipulate and control. Assumption is an ugly vice of the enemy of our soul. We have to choose to live from the inside out, from a heart guided by truth. Never live from the outward appearance, dig deeper. Take what is inside to the outside and respond, not what is outside to the inside and react from that. Reacting to an assumption is like stepping into a whirlwind, and being beat up by the enemy of your soul. Responding to God and getting His wisdom is like waiting for the whirlwind to spin out, and then step out into the situation with God’s power.
Listen before you speak, for to speak before you’ve heard the facts will bring humiliation. Proverbs 18:13
Assumptions Are… False Accusations
Assumptions are dripping with the enemies tactics of self-righteous judgement. You assume that someone is doing something that they are not doing. You self righteously point your finger in condemnation and issue your personal punishment for what you “think you know”. It is a pointing of a finger without the solid facts to back it up. Judging others without facts is a false accusation. The way God made our hand is very interesting, because when we point our finger at others, look at your hand closely, there are three fingers pointing back at you.
Stop judging based on the superficial. First you must embrace the standards of mercy and truth. John 7:24
Assumptions Are… The Enemies Playground
Assumptions Are Hated By God. God hates assumptions because the enemy uses them to distort truth. Assumptions are the enemies playground. God is all in with truth. When you are falsely accused by an assumption, the only thing you can take comfort in is that truth stands the test of time, and God knows the truth. Even if that assumption is not stricken down on this side of heaven, there is justification in heaven. Assumption has no placeholder in heaven, this is God’s playground of truth, because this will be a place of the fullness of truth, and there will be no deception in heaven.

Assumptions Are… Incognito Bitterness
Assumptions are always at the foundation of every bitterness, every grudge, and every family split. Assumptions are what the enemy uses to break apart relationships, and the enemy of our soul is really good at throwing that assumption into our mind. Assumption takes on various different shapes and a few of them are these: speculation, theory, opinion, rationalization, and presupposition. The enemy seems to be consistent with assumption, and at various times, will bombard our mind with assumptions. If we are not careful, this will turn into a “Fake Reality” and we can start making bad choices based on something entirely not true. This is the truth we should walk in, not assumptions, but walk out of this truth:
Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honor. Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. Perfect Love Love never stops loving. 1 Corinthians 13: 5-8
Assumptions Are… Hurtful Darts Of The Enemy
Assumptions are little at the beginning, but as we entertain them in our thoughts, that changes. Assumptions never stay little, they enlarge to a place where you treat someone really badly out of the huge fake reality of an assumption gone wild. Assumptions get blown way out of proportion by the enemy of our soul, and before we know it, our perspective is clouded up completely by an assumption that is not even true. This is why many people hurt people, because they are deceived by an assumption that has become a full blown lie, and they act upon the foundation of deception and cause hurt to others.
And so the tongue is a small part of the body yet it carries great power! Just think of how a small flame can set a huge forest ablaze. And the tongue is a fire! It can be compared to the sum total of wickedness and is the most dangerous part of our human body. It corrupts the entire body and is a hellish flame! It releases a fire that can burn throughout the course of human existence. James 3:5-6
Assumptions Are… Not Truth
Assumptions are not a good habit. Create a spiritual habit that will in the long run shape your emotional soul-life in such a great way. Say NO to assumption. Do not think on anything that you are assuming. Do not speak anything that you have assumed. Assumption is not truth, so never let it be the foundation of anything you do or say. Do not speak out an assumption, pray about it, take it to God, and ask Him to show you the truth. Assumption is a wicked, hurtful weapon of our enemy. Do not participate in assumption, speculation, rationalization, presumption, all these have evil intentions of the enemy of your soul. Assumptions are untruth based and usually take us to a dead end.
I’m writing to encourage you to fan into a flame and rekindle the fire of the spiritual gift God imparted to you when I laid my hands upon you. 7For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:6-7
Assumptions Are… Used To Manipulate Others
Using assumptions can even be intentional by someone trying to control and manipulate others. This kind of assumption can turn really ugly in a narcissistic way, as an assumption is used to try to manipulate the reaction-response of others. There is a condition put on the assumption that makes you have to step into the fake reality created by an assumption, and agree with the assertive perspective, or lose favor with the person who is making the assumption into a false accusation. This is manipulation and control of the enemy at its worst, with an assumption substituted for a fact, this assumption takes the place of truth. The result of an accusation using a conditional assumption, is that you have to accept a lie, agree to the lie, as part of the strife solution, or be condemned and punished. A lie of the enemy, when an assumption is used to control or manipulate others, is like stepping onto the enemies threshold of condemnation. Conviction is of the Holy Spirit, and it is always truth. But, condemnation is of the enemy, and can be an assumptive accusation by the enemy of our soul, who likes to punish us for things we are not responsible for. This truth is beneficial to fight this kind of a spiritual battle of confrontative assumptions:
Romans 7:25 Through Romans 8:4 I give all my thanks to God, for his mighty power has finally provided a way out through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One! So if left to myself, the flesh is aligned with the law of sin, but now my renewed mind is fixed on and submitted to God’s righteous principles. So now the case is closed. There remains no accusing voice of condemnation against those who are joined in life-union with Jesus, the Anointed One. For the “law” of the Spirit of life flowing through the anointing of Jesus has liberated us from the “law” of sin and death. For God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature. Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit!
Assumptions Are… An Ugly Part Of Our Humanity
Assumptions are an ugly reality of the human condition. We all make assumptions. The enemy makes an ASS out of you and me through what we ASSume. God is challenging us to keep everything untrue out of our mind, and out of our speech. Let’s take the God challenge today to keep all assumptions out of our mind, and not let them be spoken out of our mouth. This will be so good for our soul. The sad part is, we will reap what we have sown in this life. We need to sow goodness, truth, and add value to other people’s lives, because this was what Jesus did. Jesus modeled for us the right way to live, and we need to make the moment to choice decision, to stay in followship of Jesus. If we sow the ungodliness of assumption and false accusation, we will reap it. God is protecting us from ourselves, from our human condition, when He asks us to not participate in assumptions, and to live truly and deal truly with all people.
God will never be mocked! For what you plant will always be the very thing you harvest. The harvest you reap reveals the seed that you planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self-life into this natural realm, you can expect a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds of Spirit-life you will reap beautiful fruits that grow from the everlasting life of the Spirit. And don’t allow yourselves to be weary in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming! Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith! Galatians 6:7-10
