Be Faithful To God ~ To Others ~ Sail On

Paul Prays for the Philippians~ My prayers for you are full of praise to God as I give him thanks for you with great joy! I’m so grateful for our union and our enduring partnership that began the first time I presented to you the gospel. I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put his finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ! Philippians 1:3-6 ~The Passion Translation

Be Faithful To The Faithful One

God is faithful to finish what He started in us from faith to faith. Do we live our lives from faith to faith? This is how we develop a faithfulness that is steady and true and sails on no matter what our life conditions are. I went to a funeral yesterday of a man I had never met. His granddaughter is in my sixth-grade small group at church and I went to support her in God’s love. Her grandfather, Colonel Thomas Cunningham left an incredible life legacy in his family, and friends. As I sat and listened to testimony after testimony of what an honorable, courageous, God faithful man he was, I wondered about my legacy, is it a living one, like his is? Our legacy matters, it truly does, it is not about building up the things of this world, that we already focus way too much on, it is all about our faithful character, the purity of our spiritual inner core and how we work out our salvation from the inside to the outside, building an impactive living legacy. Faithfulness to God, no matter what, is a firm foundation for a living legacy to build upon. Be faithful! How? Listen up:

God’s Generous Grace~ Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by His divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing Him who has called us by name and invited us to come to Him through a glorious manifestation of His goodness. As a result of this, He has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises you can experience partnership with the divine nature, by which you have escape the corrupt desires that are of the world. 2 Peter 1:3-4 TPT

Building A Faithful Foundation

What does a living legacy look like? Are we kind, selfless, courageous, faithful, loving, giving, wise, respectful and honorable in our life integrity? Do we act out, intentionally kingdom cultured, or do we flesh out all kinds of worldly things? Are we reaching for the world or for God’s kingdom first? Our life legacy matters. Will our life legacy live on in memories that are never forgotten, can’t be forgotten, and are laced with hope? Or will our legacy die with us in sorrow that reflects only pain and a bitter deadend? Faithful is a key plank in the foundation of a living legacy. Am I fickle in my faith or is my faith steady with a faithfulness that is not shaken by the things of this world? Does my character react to this world or respond to God’s Kingdom? Do I have a steady faith committed to grow through? Is my character building upon this world or is it building upon the foundation of God’s Word? How do I change it up to a faithful living legacy? Listen:

Faith’s Ladder of Virtue~ So devote yourselves to lavishly supplementing your faith with goodness, and to goodness add understanding, and to understanding add the strength of self-control, and to self-control add patient endurance, and to patient endurance add godliness, and to godliness add mercy toward your brothers and sisters, and to mercy toward others add unending love. Since these virtues are already planted deep within, and you possess them in abundant supply, they will keep you from being inactive or fruitless in your pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ more intimately. But if anyone lacks these things, he is blind, constantly closing his eyes to the mysteries of our faith, and forgetting his innocence—for his past sins have been washed away. 2 Peter 1:5-9 TPT

Faithful To The Building Of A Living Legacy

On this day, we add onto our legacy by what we do, and say. Will it be rememberable? Will we be building a living legacy as we move from every moment to every choice on this day? Thomas Cunningham is no longer here, on this side of heaven, yet His living legacy remains, it powerfully impacted me, changing up things in me, giving me a desire to be better, to be faithful to God. A living legacy never dies, it continues to work as we see with the Legacy of Jesus Christ, Who continues to impact His people from generation to generation with His Living Word. Jesus, His living legacy of goodness, mercy and grace is alive in us, contagiously so. In heart to heart relationship with Jesus, He strengthens the quality of our faith and undergirds our lives with His resurrection power, so therefore, no doubt about it, we can be faithful and build a living legacy that remains. No matter what this life dishes out to us, we are equipped by God to be faithful and to build a living legacy. How? Listen:

For this reason, beloved ones, be eager to confirm and validate that God has invited you to salvation and claimed you as his own. If you do these things, you will never stumble. As a result, the kingdom’s gates will open wide to you as God choreographs your triumphant entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Messiah. 2 Peter 1:10-11

Pray It UP ~ Be Faithful

God, I pray You empower my legacy with good living that makes great remembrances, speak what is true to me Holy Spirit and cause me to passionately desire more of You. Empower my followship of You, that my legacy might be a living one from generation to generation. Honor is a bright light and it stands the tests and trials of time; it even outlasts death. Create in me an honorable heart. Help me to be respectful and civil, a peacemaker to all those I come in contact with on this day. I pray it up today to be intentionally kingdom cultured. It gave me hope yesterday as this man, Thomas Cunningham, remained faithful to God, and even in his dying days, he planned his memorial service, to let everyone know that every day is a good day to be humble, a good day to grow in Christ, a good day to listen up to God, a good day to learn and grow, a good day to strive to be better and a good day to lavishly love others. We all pray to have this kind of living legacy. Thomas testified at his own funeral. How? Well, even though he was no longer on this side of heaven, he still had a voice, his living legacy which shouted out with hope that God is faithful to continue working out the life legacy of His Son Jesus, faithful to grow us through from day to day with His Spirit of Truth. Our flesh, may be wild and wily at times, but a heart wide open to God, is a heart that is always changing, taming the worldly flesh and truthing in the kingdom culture. This is a faithful heart. Success on this earth is not measured correctly by anything other than faithfulness. Faithfulness is our success. Be faithful to God. How? Listen:

“Through a glorious manifestation of his goodness He has imparted to us His magnificent promises. That is, by claiming these tremendous promises as our very own, to participate as a partner, to partake of, to be a companion with, to have fellowship with” the divine nature. Faith always releases the power of the Word of God. The Passion Translation Footnote 2Peter 1:4

Cling To God~ Dig Your Life Roots Deeply In Him

Faithful~Vital-Vertical Relationship

Maintaining a consistent faith in God is a successful living legacy. It is a process contained in our vital-vertical relationship with God, a fleshing out and a truthing in. The heart of the Gospel is change and Jesus ushered in the greatest change mankind would ever know. Jesus is my agent, my advocate of change, the only One Who can change it up in my heart from here to there unto forever. I am saved by Jesus for eternity, I am changed by Him today as I give Him total access to my life, as I listen up and as I change it up in followship of Him. Colonel Thomas Cunningham went to heaven, yet left behind a living legacy that still speaks. I had not even met him, but yesterday, His Living Legacy, it impacted my life. It is never too late to have a living legacy, begin it today or add to it today from choice to choice for honor, courage, truth, unconditional love, all of these lavished on those around you, as the overflow of Your personal relationship with Jesus, where He pours in and we pour out. This is what we hope for, that being faithful to Jesus Christ, faithful to our vital-vertical relationship with Him, faithful to be changed up by Him daily, that our living legacy will impact others from here to there unto forever. Be faithful! On this day, pour out into others what God has abundantly poured out in you. Listen:
