No Easy Way

Good Morning ~ Good Manna

Romans 5: 6-8 For when the time was right, the Anointed One came and died to demonstrate his love for sinners who were entirely helpless, weak, and powerless to save themselves.7 Now, would anyone dare to die for the sake of a wicked person? We can all understand if someone was willing to die for a truly noble person. 8 But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost and ungodly!

Journey To The Cross – Lenten Devotional

I am reading a book this lent season by Paul David Tripp called: Journey To The Cross. This author is very anointed and I have been stretched by God through some of the revelations and wisdom of this book in this lent season. One that hit me incredibly hard was that it is our human condition to take the easy way out, yet there is truly no easy way out of sin, this is a stinking deception of our enemy. We are always looking for that quick fix. I know I have. We all get these “bright ideas” I wonder where they come from. We live in a culture right now that is a mess because of someone’s “bright idea” thinking that a “Cancel God Culture” would be a good thing. Our human nature is so in need of God, so in need of the fresh start that only He can give us. There is no easy way out for us, we need God.

“In some way the quest of every human being is to find the easy way out. Was it really necessary for Jesus to be mocked, spat upon and executed in a torturous and public way? Every aspect of His suffering, death and resurrection was necessary. It was all essential because there was no other way to reverse the damage that sin had done or to rescue those who were held in its death grip. No novel solutions to be found, no quick fixes and no exceptions to the rule. No easy way out.” Paul Tripp #LentenDevotional #JourneyToTheCross

I Am Not The Fixer

There are even times when I took on the role of the Holy Spirit and I thought I could be the fixer. Believe me, things did not end well. I still have one unreconciled relationship because I got a “bright idea” that I could help this person. 5 years later, we still have not spoken after my “helping” turned really bad. It reminds me of the wisdom in this verse of scripture, Isaiah 50:10-11 and the relational torment I have lived out because of my “bright idea” where I thought I could be The Fixer. I pray someday, God fixes that relationship I badly messed up by trying to be the savior. God is the Savior, I am not.

Good Morning ~ Good Manna

Romans 5: 7-21 Death once held us in its grip, and by the blunder of one man, death reigned as king over humanity. But now, how much more 5:17 There are four “much mores” in this chapter. Two point to our future deliverance (vv. 9, 10), and two point to the abundance of grace which we now experience (vv. 15, 17). are we held in the grip of grace and continue reigning as kings in life, enjoying our regal freedom through the gift of perfect righteousness 5:17 Or “the gift of covenant membership.” in the one and only Jesus, the Messiah! 18In other words, just as condemnation came upon all people through one transgression, so through one righteous act of Jesus’ sacrifice, the perfect righteousness that makes us right with God and leads us to a victorious life 5:18 As translated from the Aramaic. The Greek is “which brings righteousness of life.” is now available to all. 19 One man’s disobedience opened the door for all humanity to become sinners. So also one man’s obedience opened the door for many to be made perfectly right with God and acceptable to him. 20So then, the law was introduced into God’s plan to bring the reality of human sinfulness out of hiding. And yet, wherever sin increased, there was more than enough of God’s grace to triumph all the more! 5:20 Paul speaks of God’s grace in v. 17 as superabundant, but then adds the prefix, huper (“hyper”), making grace huperperisseuō, which could be translated super-hyperabundant grace! There is an endless fountain of grace that has been opened for us in Christ! 21And just as sin reigned through death, so also this sin-conquering grace will reign as king through righteousness, imparting eternal life through Jesus, our Lord and Messiah! The Passion Translation

“No easy way out. Take time during this season to focus on the doom that was your destiny apart from the cross. May this season of remembrance free you from ever again minimizing your sin and buying into the vain hope that there may be an easy way out.” Paul Tripp
